New Internet governance course for professionals from Oman kicks off
Updated on 05 April 2024
The new foundation course in Internet governance is off to a dynamic start as 20 professionals from Oman have embarked on the first phase of a dedicated Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme (IGCBP).
A collaborative agreement between DiploFoundation and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman will enable the group of participants to participate in a special three-phase programme.
Following the foundation phase, the participants will proceed to an advanced phase, which delves deeper into specific IG aspects. This will be followed by a third phase – the research phase – which will see participants learn about policy research methodology and submit their own research proposals.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority was established in 2002 to Iiberalise and promote the telecommunications sector in Oman. The Authority is mandated to regulate and maintain the telecom services. It works to promote the interest of telecommunications services providers and beneficiaries, ensuring that consumers receive international standards of telecommunications services, with a reasonable range of choices at reasonable prices.
The participants are expected to complete the third phase of the Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme (IGCBP) in April 2013.
