Updated on 05 April 2024
The Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme for participants from the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa), organised by Hivos in collaboration with DiploFoundation and the Association for Progressive Communications (APC), has successfully concluded.
The programme consisted of an introductory course and an advanced course in Internet governance (IG). The ten-week Introduction to Internet Governance course introduced participants to IG policy, issues related to Infrastructure, legal, economic, sociocultural, and development aspects, and the IG process. The ten-week advanced course explored in-depth aspects related to IG, with a special focus on human rights, privacy, and freedoms of expression and information.
The programme was based on a collaborative learning approach, through which participants learned about issues and topics, and shared their knowledge and experience through discussion and interaction within the classroom.
More than 50 participants from Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, and Yemen took part in the programme.
